Family

MNS was born on 24th July, 1935 to Venkata Subrahmanya Sarma and Kameswaramma. She was the daughter of Bhagavatula Ramayya garu, a native of Vadlamudi of Tenali taluk. Her patience and kindness are especially noteworthy. She was married at a very young age and helped her mother-in-law Annapurnamma garu in managing everything. She was respected by all including her brothers-in-law. The children of their relatives who came to stay and study at Dhulipudi, loved her immensely.  

MNS has One younger brother and three Sisters, one elder and two younger.

His elder sister was Umadevi married to Ramakrishna Sastri. He is the second son of Sri Janaswami Venkateswara Sastri, a scholar of grammar and Vedanta. He studied under his father-in-law and passed the school finals. Later completed Teacher Training and worked in Tenali Taluka Junior High School  and died after retirement. He was known as a good teacher. The couple had seven daughters and two sons.

Nagabhushana Sarma   was married to Saraswati of Somavarappadu who was the grand daughter of Tangirala Lakshminarasimham garu, First daughter of Lakshminarayana Sarma garu. She is the Dauhitri of the then famous lawyer Kareddla Ramaiah Garu.

MNS has studied Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from The Gudivada College, Andhra Pradesh, Master of Arts (English Literature) from Osmania University, Hyderabad, Master of Fine Arts (Direction) from Illinois University, Chicago, USA. He completed his Ph.D. in Osmania University

He has worked in various capacities in the Department of English and was  instrumental in starting the Department of Theatre Arts at Osmania University, Hyderabad and was the first Head of the Department.

He travelled extensively to study, get trained in various theatre techniques. He has published many research articles on novel and drama literature.

Saraswati, as a devoted wife followed the footsteps of MNS. Her entire education was after her marriage. She completed Matriculation, Bachelors of Arts (Hindi), Master of Arts (Hindi) and also obtained a Ph.D in Hindi with her subject on Veergadha.

MNS and Saraswati have two children, Siva Sarath Chandra and Naga Ramana Anand.

Sarath completed his Masters in Commerce from Osmania University and a Masters in Management Studies from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He is married to Lakshmi Radhika, daughter of Gollapudi Sivaram, an Advocate from Ongole. They have two children – Elder one – Pranav Kashyap, has completed his Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering and is currently working with Infinera at Bethlehem, PA, and is  married to Pooja Rana, who has completed her Bachelors from Rutgers and Master in Public Health from Yale School of Public Health. Currently she is working as a Consultant with The Dedham Group. They lost their second son, Praneeth Kashyap in 2010, while he was in his 9th Standard.

Anand completed his Master of Arts in English. He is married to Suryakala eldest daughter of Putrevu Rajaramdass and Lakshmi, native of Gunipudi. Rajaramdass, was colleague of MNS at the Department of Theatre Arts, Osmania University. He has two children – Naga Prabhav Karthik, who is studying Medicine in the United States and Akhil Nagaraj, has completed his M.S. in HCI in the United States and is interviewing for his Ph.D candidature.

His younger brother, Balendu Mouli Sarma  is married to Shakuntala. She was the eldest daughter of Seethepalli Venkateshwarlu garu of Nagavarappadu, the fourth son of the Seethepalli Rama Sastri. Venkateshwarlu garu died working as a sanitary inspector. Balendu Mauli Sarma completed his Bachelor of Arts and was working  Sirpur Paper Mills. This couple has a daughter and a son. His name is Venkateswara Prasad, after completing his engineering, he worked in many places and finally retired while working at Indonesia. His wife’s name is Senavalli. They have two daughters Durga and Indira.

Annapurna Devi is the next sibling of MNS, who is married to Lakshmipati. He is the youngest son of Nandula Venkatasubbaiya garu, a native of Penamakuru, Krishna district. Lakshmipati passed Secondary Grade (Training) and joined Hindu College High School as a teacher. Later he gave BA and B.Ed. exam and worked as B.Ed. Assistant. Annapurna passed S.S.L.C. exam. The couple have two daughters and Two sons. They are respectively (1) Kameswari, married to Ghadiyaram Subramanyam. They have a daughter and a Son. (2) Venkataramana, she is married to Ghadiyaram Sridevi. They have two children, Sai Vineeth and Sravani (3) Sailaja is married to Kuchibhotla Chandramouli. They have three daughters – Swathi, Deepthi and Keerthi (4) Srinivas is married to Kalyani. They have two children, Teja is a Chartered Accountant and their second son has autism.

Dakshayani Devi is the youngest sister of MNS, married to Gopala Kutumba Rao. He was the second son of Kota Punnaiya garu who first settled in Sayipuram and later Vijayawada. He is an M.Com. After passing the exam, he worked as a commerce lecturer in a government degree college and retired. He is a great music lover. Dakshayani B.A. Test given. Worked as an employee in Alembic Company, Vijayawada (Branch) for some years. She has three daughters  – (1) Meenakshi Devi (2) Neelambari and (3) Nandini Devi
